Evelyn Louise Jackson

Evelyn Louise Fonza-Jackson was born to the parentage of Lewis and Arnie Fonza on November 7,1932 in Troup, Texas.    

 She attended the Central High School system. In 1954, she united in matrimony to Odell Jackson, and to this union three loving spirited offspring were born.


Evelyn joined Mary Memorial COGIC at early age, and later united with Victory Temple COGIC in 1999, where she served in many capacities, Sunday school teacher, Secretary of Prayer and Bible band, Sermonic songstress, Usher, and a loyal choir representative. She was also the Head of the Rose Garden hospitality department of Texas (Northeast Jurisdiction #2).

Throughout her work career she took pride in her job as a housekeeper and cook for many years.  In addition, she provided care for numerous children serving as their nanny.

She left a memorable impression on most for her determined mindset, witty quotes, phrases, and will to serve others. Mrs. Jackson often said,” I am hopping, but I ain’t stopping, or I may be creeping, but I ain’t weeping.”

She transitioned February 19,2023 in her residence surrounded by her loving family. Uniting with her Parents, and siblings: Eugene Fonza, Charlie Louis Fonza, Ray Milton Fonza, Johnny Fonza, Merlean Davis, Ella Mae Nelson, Beverly Howard, JoAnn Polk, and Juanita Fonza.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Rayford & Thelma Jackson Sr., Barbara & Jerry Daniels, and Amelia Davis. (Sibling)- Annie Malone Washington (Sister in laws)- Ida B. Jackson, Gloria Jackson, Clara Mae Whitaker, Alice Jackson, and Juanita Cooper. (nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
