Johnny Paul Bigham was born in Mineola, Texas on Thursday, January 15, 1948, to Johnny and Ella Mae Staples- Bigham. He departed this life on Sunday, June 25,2023, at his residence in Mineola, Texas.
He accepted Christ at an early age, uniting with East Chapel CME, and later he joined Johnson Chapel where he was a steward.
Johnny education begin at McFarland High School, and after integration he attended Mineola Public School System where he later graduate with the Class of 1967. Paul was an all-around athlete. He excelled in sports and was a standout performer on the football team. Which in term lead to the phrase “Give the Ball to Johnny Paul.” His performances on the football field have since lead to him being inducted to the Mineola High School Hall of Fame.
After high school he enlisted in the United States Air Forces in 1968. Serving four years active service, and another two years in reserve. After leaving the military he worked at several jobs, but would later retire from Goodyear-Kelly Springfield, formerly in Tyler, TX.
In June 1973, he married Novada Stephens. And fifty years later they remained each other’s rock to lean on. Paul was a family-oriented man who loved his family. He provided love, knowledge, and wisdom for his family. All the ingredients needed to survive in this world.
Johnny Paul united with his parents Johnny and Ella Mae Bigham, sisters: Alice J. Bigham, Linda Dunlap, and Rossalita Bigham-Trunnell, brothers: Glen R. Bigham, Charles L. Bigham, and James Bigham.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Novada Bigham, children: Vivian Bigham of Mineola, TX; Paula Bigham of Dallas, TX; Johnny P. Bigham, Jr. of Mineola, TX; and Yvonne Moore (Jimmy) of Tyler, TX; One sister, Sandra Pipkins of Van, TX; one brother, Jerry Don Bigham of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren : Eliza , Tristin, and Aaliyah; one great-grand baby Elonii, A special aunt, Bessie Caraway and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
