Osborn Sural “Pierre” Sampson was born in Mineola General Hospital on April 13, 1956, to the late Howard and Mary Jane Walton Sampson. Osborn was baptized early at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Mineola, TX. He attended Sunday school, sang in the junior choir, and served as a junior deacon. He loved the Lord and took every opportunity to testify and witness to his fellow man. He served as a faithful servant, spreading the gospel. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul Missionary but attended Grace Church in Humble, TX.
Osborn graduated from Mineola High School in 1974, where he participated in football and extracurricular activities. He attended Tyler Junior College and then transferred to Lee College, Baytown, TX, where he earned an associate degree. He also earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology while attending Sam Houston University. He was a graduate of Christ for the Nations, becoming an ordained Minister, and did evangelist work at Beverly Hills Baptist Church preaching the word of God. One of his favorite chapters was the book of Matthew, whose message proclaims the good news of Jesus Christ.
He worked as a personal assistant for the previous owner, Murchison, of the Dallas Cowboys, spending long weekends in his home providing him care. He also held various leadership roles at Century Homes, worked as an apartment manager, and most recently served as an active member on the Board of the Consumer Advisory Council (CAC) of SEARCH Homeless Services in Houston.
He is known for his vision for his family, seeking love and happiness. Although he was far away in the distance, his family was always close to his heart. His most memorable passion was organizing family reunions and gatherings to maintain unity, close relations, and passing on the family legacy. He had plans to establish a “family organization” for education and scholarships.
Osborn was preceded in death by both parents, Howard Sampson and Mary Jane Walton Sampson; one brother, Billy Gene Roberts Sampson, and Marvin Howard Sampson; one nephew, Manual Sampson; grandparents, and a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins.
