Life Reflections Obituary
Sgt. Shawana LaGail Griffin Fludd was born July 3, 1960 in Tyler, TX to Harvey and Elsie Griffin. Shawana was the second born of their five daughters. She was the only child that was born at home.
Shawana attended public school in Tyler ISD. She was an honorary member of the Jazzy Jewel Social Club affectionately known as “Big Jewel”.
Shawana joined the Army after graduating high school. She retired after serving our country for 20 years and made Virginia her home.
Shawana was raised up going to church at Houston Temple Church of God in Christ in Tyler, TX. She gave her life to Christ in the early 90’s. She was a faithful member and deaconess of the Spirit of Faith Ministries in Alexandria, VA. She was filled with the Holy Spirit at Spirit of Faith Ministries and she was a devout member for over 20 years under the direction of Pastor Louise Carter.
Shawana was the mother to three children: Nadia Keyes, Nevis Franklin, and Jerry Fludd Jr. Shawana was preceded in death by her father, Harvey Griffin, her oldest sister, Harvetta Griffin Watson, and her oldest son, Nevis Franklin.
Shawana departed this life on December 8th, 2017. She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Jerry Fludd of Alexandria, VA; her mother, Elsie Griffin of Tyler, TX; her children: Nadia Keyes Tyler, TX; Jerry Fludd Jr. of Alexandria, VA; Two Grandson Keith London and Aidan Keyes - of Tyler, TX; her sisters: Dora Griffin Lampkin (George) of Tyler, TX; Deirdre Griffin Roberson (John) of Tyler, TX; and Torian Griffin of Tyler, TX; her nephews: Antonio Burnett (Alicia) of Seattle, WA; Jack Burnett of St. Petersburg, FL; Courtney Thomas of Tyler, TX; Hennessey Lampkin of Tyler, TX; Zaylon Jones of Dallas, TX; her nieces: LaTangdra Griffin of Tyler, TX; Chasidy Griffin Tidwell (Roy) of Little Elm, TX; Shacoria Whitemon of Tyler, TX. Other family members include the Delaware Moore cousins of Dallas, TX; The Griffin cousins of Lindale, TX; Spirit of Faith Ministry family of Alexandria, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
